Problem:

MDC Technology, a division of Emerson Process Management, needed the highest accuracy in feeding and counting up to 200,000 units per hour of such components as pharmaceutical capsules and parts made of precious metals.

Solution:

MDC's Model 50 Discrete Component Counter had two Eriez Vibratory Feeders built into the unit which helped eliminate errors caused by weight or volume counting. The feeders helped make "insurance" overfills unnecessary. The feeders align parts in separate channels and move them past non-contacting photo-detectors.

Problem:

Smith Kline & French Laboratories in Philidelphia, PA, USA wanted to be sure that a medication contained the desired iron content.

Solution:

An Eriez Magna-Rail® picked up capsules that contained the elemental iron and channeled them through the remainder of the process. All other capsules were rejected. Quality control was described as 100 percent effective.
