Materials:Corn Cobs
Suspended Electromagnets - 7000 Series
Problem:
Efficient, low-cost removal of iron contamination from a corn cob residue belt conveyor operating in hot, dusty conditions was the problem at the
Quaker Oats Company
, in Memphis, TN, USA.
Solution:
Corn cobs were processed to make fuel, charcoal and fertilizers at this chemical plant. A 30-inch (762 mm) Eriez
Suspended Electromagnet
was installed. The magnet removed all tramp iron at a burden depth of four to eight inches (102-203 mm) traveling about 31 feet per minute (9 mpm). Only clean residue was allowed to continue to the boiler plant.
