Frazier & Son, a designer, engineer and manufacturer of bucket elevators and net weight scales, recently enlisted Eriez® as its primary partner to help develop a processing line for Goya® Foods’ Houston, Texas facility. The major project objective was to maintain purity and quality and increase the operation’s efficiency. Goya now uses the Eriez HD Vibratory Feeder/Screener, model HD66 in combination with Frazier’s bucket elevators. Goya beans are bagged and then run through the Eriez E-Z Tec® DSP Metal detector. The result is a product line that moves the beans through the plant quickly, screens for contamination and scans for metal contamination. Evelio Fernandez, General Manager and Vice President of Goya Foods of Texas, explains, “If it’s Goya, it has to be good. Eriez and Frazier are helping us maintain our high quality standards.”Huhtamaki, a plastic injection molding and thermaforming manufacturer with operations in North and South America, makes containers and lids for the food industry. One of Huhtamaki’s clients, a national yogurt producer, requested that containers be run through a metal detector before shipment. Dane Benning, Senior Industrial Engineer for Huhtamaki, chose the Eriez E-Z Tec® Metal Detector based on the company’s reputation and pre-purchase facility acceptance test. He purchased six units initially; because of the excellent performance of those, a seventh metal detector has since been purchased for a separate contract making lids for ice-cream containers. “We’ve had good performance and success with the units. I would see no reason to deviate from that,” Benning said.
